Most people think the arts are for someone else. Someone in the good seats. Someone with talent.
We went looking for everyone else.
Seniors living with dementia, remembering every dance step on a real stage. Young people once hurt by words, now healing with them. Families who shared meals with their phones, sharing meals with each other again. Some of the world's fastest walkers, slowing down for a tune.
The arts didn't change who they were. Just how their day went.
P.S.In my family, two out of three kids wanted to study design. In Singapore, that's usually where the conversation ends. My parents said yes. Twice.
