Hi, I’m Marilyn.
My parents were my first clients. Drawings, bad poems, a lot of creatures. Most of it went on the fridge. My first real job was as a designer. It didn’t go the way I’d hoped, so I tried words instead. They stuck.
I spent ten years at agencies in Singapore. Late nights, big pitches, a few awards. And the drinks after, which I remember less clearly.
Then I went client-side, into ad tech, as the only copywriter for Asia Pacific. Eleven markets, and eleven opinions on every headline. Sometimes twelve. So I built a team, and co-wrote the global brief.
Mostly, I just like making things that weren’t there before. Stories, worlds, and the odd creature. Dishes nobody eats.
At home, six rabbits run the place. I’m allowed to stay. A record collection is slowly taking whatever space is left, and I still end up in the pit at gigs. Pilates helps.
